Your child’s earliest experience with a dentist helps set the tone for their perception of dental care in the years to come. We believe that early intervention should be gentle, friendly and geared towards a “show and tell” process that’s non-threatening to our young patients.
What to Expect
During your child’s first few visits, we’ll help them acclimate to the dental office and use terms that are easy to understand. You might even want to consider bringing them with you to your own checkup so that they know what to expect. At your child’s appointment, we’ll show them some of the various tools we use to count teeth or spray air on their hands to show them what we do to teeth.
Before you arrive, be sure to let us know what your child’s favourite television program is. We’ll have it pulled up on the monitor in the exam room, giving them a little something extra to look forward to.
Your Child’s First Visit
It’s best to bring your child in for a checkup by age 2. Often, children sit in their parent’s lap while we take a brief look inside their mouths. As your child grows and becomes more comfortable, we’ll progress to polishing and cleans or even a small X-ray here and there.
